studiokurbos is an owner-managed, independent design studio with locations in Stuttgart and Shanghai.

For our CAS team (Computer Aided Styling), we are looking for experienced freelance CAS Modelers who can translate creative design ideas and styling concepts into high-quality, precise 3D models. You will work independently on demanding projects, bringing a strong understanding of proportion, surfaces, form, and detail to the realization of design intent.

The position is offered as a freelance, project-based engagement and is available immediately. The scope of the work can be adapted flexibly depending on the specific project requirements.

YOUR MISSION

  • Independently create and develop CAS models based on design sketches, 2D drawings, and styling requirements
  • Translate design ideas and styling intent into high-quality, precise digital 3D models
  • Develop and optimize exterior, interior, and add-on components
  • Refine proportions, surfaces, and form transitions with a strong focus on design quality and precision
  • Create and optimize concept, SubD, and other digital 3D models according to the specific project requirements
  • Prepare and optimize models for design reviews, visualizations, and other digital applications
  • Work closely with designers, engineers, and other project stakeholders
  • Independently handle complex modeling tasks and reliably deliver against project objectives and quality standards

YOUR PROFILE

  • Several years of professional experience as a CAS Modeler, ideally in automotive or high-end product design
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant CAS and 3D software, particularly Autodesk Alias, Maya, or comparable tools
  • Solid experience with SubD, poly, or comparable digital modeling techniques
  • Proven ability to translate 2D sketches and design requirements into high-quality, precise 3D models
  • Strong understanding of design, proportion, surfaces, form, and aesthetics
  • Excellent eye for detail, surface quality, and the accurate realization of design intent
  • Experience working with complex 3D models and optimizing modeling workflows
  • Independent, structured, and reliable way of working
  • Strong team player who enjoys working in interdisciplinary project teams
  • Very good command of both German and English, written and spoken
  • Willingness to work on a freelance, project-based basis
