studiokurbos is an owner-managed, independent design studio with locations in Stuttgart and Shanghai.

We are looking for experienced freelance Exterior Designers to join our design team. You will translate creative design ideas and styling concepts into high-quality and compelling exterior design concepts. You will work independently on demanding projects and bring a strong sense of proportion, surfaces, form language and detail to the realization of design intent.

The position is offered as a freelance, project-based engagement and is available immediately. The scope of the work can be adapted flexibly depending on the specific project requirements.

YOUR MISSION

  • Independently develop and further refine exterior design concepts based on design briefs, sketches, 2D drawings and styling requirements
  • Translate design ideas and styling intent into high-quality and compelling exterior design solutions
  • Develop and refine exterior forms, body surfaces and add-on components
  • Develop proportions, surfaces, form transitions and character lines with a strong focus on design quality and precision
  • Develop and refine design variants according to the specific project requirements
  • Further develop and refine design concepts to a high level of design maturity
  • Prepare design stages for design reviews, presentations, visualizations and other digital applications
  • Work closely with designers, CAS modelers, engineers and other project stakeholders
  • Independently handle complex design tasks and reliably deliver project objectives and quality standards

YOUR PROFILE

  • At least 3 years of professional experience as an Exterior Designer, ideally in automotive or high-end product design
  • Solid experience in developing exterior design concepts and styling solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant 2D and 3D design software
  • Confident working with digital design and visualization tools
  • Strong ability to translate design briefs, 2D sketches and styling requirements into high-quality exterior design concepts
  • Strong understanding of design, proportions, surfaces, form language and aesthetics
  • Excellent eye for detail, surface quality and the effective realization of design intent
  • Experience in developing design variants and independently further developing design ideas
  • Independent, structured and reliable way of working
  • Strong team orientation and enthusiasm for working in interdisciplinary project teams
  • Very good written and spoken German and English
  • Willingness to work on a freelance, project-based basis
